The Amazing Race!
I know...I know, I shouldn't be watching reality T.V. Save the lectures. I'm hooked. Did you watch it tonight? Did you see the old people survive another week. How about the black couple? She shaved her head. He held her hand. It is funny to think that not long ago they were not allowed to sit in the front of the bus. Hell they had their own separate drinking fountains. Now here they are national T.V. married, in love and being pretty good ambassadors of what is great America! We have the ability to admit our mistakes. Most of the time. The final couple to arrive at the destination also were beautiful. They hugged when they found out they had been eliminated. They talked about how beautiful the experience was. They talked about how happy they made each other. How they looked forward to their future together. If you are in love it made you smile at the person you love. If you are not in love it made you long for it one more time.
Ohh yeah....They are gay men.
An amazing race. They are in it and so are we.

Half Full? Half Empty? Doesn't Matter... You Will Spill It!
Everything that happens to you in life can be explained through a Baseball analogy. Trust me on this. I have tried every angle.
Home opener today! I love Baseball. I love the fact that people really believe anything can happen! It could be a magical season! I saw them talking about it today on T.V. right before the game. "Could this be the year"? "The royals are going to surprise some people"! "Don't be fooled these kids can play"! "The fans are strolling in knowing that they hope with guarded optimism...but you just feel like something special is going on"!
See! Remove the word Royals or Baseball from those quotes. Think about the word Love being put into those sentences. Don't we all feel that way when we meet someone we think we just might like? Guarded optimism? How about a new job?
Baseball is life and the truth of the matter is you will probably have some decent luck for awhile up to the point where things turn from bad.... to worse... and you shit the bed giving up 7 runs in the top of the eighth to seal your fate. Another wasted year..but it started out so good! Such lofty aspirations!
Maybe next year!
That is why we love opening day. It reminds us anything is possible. If only for a couple of hours.

Ohhh Kansas!
70%???? 70%?????
Gay is officially the new black. I guess the only difference is you don't ever have to explain to your parents that you are black.

The Pope!
I have been watching and the Pope keeps hanging on. I have made some jokes at his expense and believe me he deserves it. I do not agree with him on most issues and find myself at odds with him and Catholics often. I think he should have went after the Priests who molested boys and should have had Cardinal Laws head on a platter. I like the way he stood up to George Bush on the war on terror but I wish he would have gave some viable solutions. I think his followers needed someone to tell them why the war was wrong and what we could do to fix it. Maybe that is my problem with man. He seemed to be good at saying NO but not why or what now.
He was a man of conviction and didn't seem to be a hypocrite. He also had an ability most people of faith don't have. He admitted mistakes. Some of them anyway. He did admit that Catholics were wrong and Gaileo was right. That wasn't an easy thing to do. I'm sure. He also admitted that the Vatican could have done a little more (or less) when it came to the holocaust.
We have religious Right in this country that might want to learn some of those lessons from the man they pray for now. He wasn't my Pope but I will try to learn those lessons also.
